Christmas Hope Found in a Child

Posted by Marshall Girtman on

For unto us a Child is born, unto us a Son is given; and the government will be upon His shoulder. And His name will be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. - Isaiah 9:6 NKJV

Isaiah prophesied about the birth of Jesus roughly seven-hundred years before it happened, during the period of Bablyonian captivity of the Israelites. These prophecies gave the Jewish people hope during this dark period of their history. This hope was found in the coming Messiah.

Fast forward nearly eight centuries later and this divine prophecy came to pass. Jesus was born to a virgin named Mary, of the house of David, in the city of Bethlehem. As with Isaiah's prophecy, these facts also fulfilled other prophecies. In fact, the Old Testament is full of prophecies regarding the coming Messiah. These can be found spanning the entire Old Testament, from Genesis to Micah.

Why was it so important for God to reveal His plan for a coming Messiah? There is one simple answer: HOPE! This Messiah would bring redemption for mankind, He would pay the penalty for our rebellion against God, and ultimately He would provide the only way back to an eternal relationship with God.

This hope was brought into the world in the form of a baby. The King of Kings was born in a humble manger. The Lord of all creation subjected Himself to a human birth.

Jesus is the Savior of the world. This is the message of Christmas. By God's miraculous plan, Jesus was born with the divine mission to die for the sins of the world. This is the hope of Christmas!

Regardless what has happened in 2020, there is still hope found in Jesus this Christmas. Whether the coronavirus pandemic has drastically altered our way of living, or sickness or financial burdens have afflicted us or our loved ones, there is still hope found in Jesus this Christmas. Whether we have lost jobs or loved ones, there is still hope found in Jesus this Christmas. Perhaps we are battling false allegations that plague us, or perhaps we find our relationships that we want most suffering for reasons beyond our control, there is still hope found in Jesus this Christmas.

The team at Outspoken Faith Designs wish all of you a very merry Christmas. As always, we strive to encourage one another with the hope that is only found in Jesus. Here are a few examples.
